Hahei: Happiness by the Sea
Hahei, New Zealand is a paradise nestled on the Coromandel Peninsula. Its present-day name is a shorter version of the Te-Whanganui-A-Hei, which means “The Great Bay of Hei.” The town has long been a popular summer destination but somehow remains to be immaculate and undisturbed. Hahei is truly the perfect place to enjoy the marine life.
Best Time to Visit
To fully enjoy your time at Hahei, it is recommended to visit during the summer from December to February. These are the months when the sun is shining brightly and would be a great opportunity to head on to the many beaches in town. However, these months are also jam-packed with tourists, and Hahie NZ hotels are expensive. You can join in the fun at the Leadfoot Festival every February.
What to Do & Area Attractions
It is a must to enjoy a refreshing swim at Hahei Beach. Other activities, such as snorkeling, diving, and kayaking, are also available. The Cathedral Cove is a marine reserve you can visit if you are up for a challenge. It can only be traversed via boat, kayak, or on foot. There is also the Mercury Bay, where you can enjoy sipping on local wine in one of the restaurants by the shore. Hahei Horizon is a charming bed and breakfast place where the hosts are very warm and friendly. The breakfast is also top-notch. Another exceptional choice to stay in is the Hahei Bed & Breakfast, which has an outdoor pool and a parking space you can freely use. Something quirky but lovely is the Church Accommodation surrounded by an expansive mini forest.
