Great Bend, New York is a small hamlet with little population. It is located in Jefferson County and is surrounded by River Black. For that reason, Great Bend is affluent with natural landscapes and scenic areas. The town is easily a wonderful destination if you want to escape the busy city life. There are major cities close by as well.
Best Time to Visit
It is during the middle of the year when there is ample sun shining over at Great Bend, NY. Some of the months have moderate to heavy rainfall. Thus, it is best to come between July and August for some town exploration. Although, as it is summer season, Great Bend NY hotels tend to be expensive, and many travelers are visiting the town.
What to Do & Area Attractions
If you love anything old and boats, a visit to the Antique Boat Museum is a must. It is just about half an hour's drive from Great Bend. Other popular tourist attractions nearby are the Boldt Castle and Boldt Yacht House just an hour away. It sits on Heart Island and is a significant remain of history. A little bit further away but still worth a trip to is the Fort William Henry Museum and Restoration. There are no immediate Great Bend hotels and accommodations within the town center. But a few are just a short drive away. These include Days Inn by Wyndham Evans Mills/Fort Drum, Motel 6 Calcium, NY - Fort Drum, and Candlewood Suites Watertown Fort Drum, which are all 2-star and contemporary. Parking spaces are also found in all three hotels.
