Friday Harbor: Delicious Dining Options Near the Waterfront
Friday Harbor, WA is a town in the San Juan County famous for their marine biology facilities and home to the Friday Harbor Laboratories. The city's name was from a Hawaiian settler in the region named Joseph Poalie Friday who was among the first employers of the Hudson Bay Company that tended sheep on the land located near the harbor. The city later became a sailing and steamship pit stop with the busy harbor hauling passengers, products and mail to the island. At present, the region is a thriving city with tourism, real estate, and construction as the main contributors in the economy.
Best Time to Visit
Whale watching season would be best experienced during the months of May through September in Friday Harbor, Washington. This is also the best season for romantic escapades and can be a busy time of the year for tourism in the region.
