European Centre for Medieval Art and Civilization, Conques-en-Rouergue, France
The European Centre for Medieval Art and Civilization is nestled in the town of Conques-en-Rouergue, France in the Aveyron department. It hosts an annual exhibition for the last two decades, inviting numerous artisans and artists from across the year from May to September. The exhibit is then presented in the cultural center within the building. There are also conferences and musical meetings organized by the European Centre for Medieval Art and Civilization, as well.
Aside from a visit to the European Centre for Medieval Art and Civilization, you should also include a side trip to the lovely nearby town of Conques, where the Church of Ste-Foy is located. Medieval pilgrims used to stop at the abbey now and again on their way to Santiago de Compostela in northwestern Spain. The church was first built in the eighth century but was demolished in the 11th century to give way to the construction of a bigger church.
