The best time to visit Dete is during the months of April through September, for the perfect weather. The busiest months are usually April, June, and July. Tourists are least likely to visit in December.

One of the must-see attractions in the area is Hwange National Park, the biggest natural reserve in the country. Established in 1928, it is home to about 400 species of birds and about a hundred species of mammals. Bird species in the park include racket-tailed roller, southern ground hornbill, and yellow-billed kite. It has 4 small permanent camps and 3 huge rest camps. There are also bush camps, which are remote camping sites without facilities. Get to visit another reservation in Dete, the Painted Dog Research Center. Tourists should also visit Bumbusi, which is surrounded by the park. It is an archaeological site with boulders, colossal stone walls, dwelling runs, and platforms. It was declared a National Monument in the early 1900s. The origins of the main structures can be traced back to the 18th and 19th centuries. You can also tour the Railway Recreation Center.
