David: Where There is Something for Everyone
David, Panama serves as the provincial capital of Chiriquí province and is the second largest city in the country. Formally known as San José de David, it is nestled in the lowlands of the province. It is a vibrant city that bustles with commercial activity with its orderly streets filled with department stores, restaurants, and movie theaters as well as a colorful area with colonial-era buildings, a museum, and a restored cathedral.

Tourists flock to David because it is a beautiful vacation destination all year round. However, the best time to visit the city is during the summer months of December to April which means that hotel capacity is mostly full and rates are higher than usual. In Mid-March, the city hosts the Feria de David, a 10-day fair highlighting not only industrial products and new technology but also the city’s cultural and folkloric heritage. This draws more than 500 exhibitors from all over the world so expect David, Panama hotels to be swarming with guests.

The city offers lovely patches of green like the Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra Park and the Parque Recreativo Omar Torrijos Herrera where visitors can spend a rejuvenating afternoon. The Port of Pedregal is a busy harbor area where you can boat watch. A few minutes away from the parks is the elegant Gran Hotel Nacional.
