Presidente João Suassuna Airport– CPVCampina Grande, Brazil
Presidente João Suassuna Airport (CPV) is a public airport located 3.5 miles from downtown Campina Grande, Brazil. It is named after João Suassunawho was President of the State of Paraíbain the ‘20s. Even before its inauguration in 1963, air service was already offered since the 1940s. It was previously managed by Infraero although operations will change hands as Aena recently won a concession to run the airport as well as some other Brazilian airports. The airport handled over 168,000 passengers in 2018. The same year resulted in a total of 3,444 aircraft operations.
Best Time to Visit
There had been extensive renovation works in the past that included the rehabilitation of the apron and runway. A new terminal was also constructed which at present is capable of handling 250,000 passengers annually. It was re-inaugurated in 2013. Its sole runway only allows daytime landings, and can support most single engine aircraft, light twins, most business jets and smaller commuter aircraft. The city it serves is Campina Grande and it is the second most populous city in the State of Paraíba and considered to be the most important city of the Northeastern Brazilian region.

Hotels conveniently located near the airport are ideal for travelers flying in or out of CPV Airport. The 4-star Hotel Serrano is just a quarter mile from the commercial center. The hotel offers a breakfast buffet for its guests and a bar. The Campina Express Hotel is a more affordable option, but they also offer free wifi, daily breakfast and relaxing rooms.
