Cobano: A Bustling Village amid the Nicoya Peninsula
Cobano, Costa Rica is a relatively small town in the southern section of the peninsula of Nicoya in the province of Puntarenas. It is the typical gateway to the beaches found in Mal Pais, Playa Tambor, Playa Santa Teresa, and Montezuma. Cobano has transitioned from a cozy sleeping village into a developed tourist town, thanks to the wide selection of beautiful beaches bordering the south Pacific coast. You can easily reach the town via Punta Islita Airport, which is over an hour away, or Carrillo Airport, which is more than four hours away.
Best Time to Visit
If you’re craving for authentic Costa Rican fiesta vibes, book your trip to the town in February when Cobano hosts its two-week-long Fiestas Cívicas de Cobano. During this event, the town is filled with traditional music, bull riding events, and horse riders. Spring is just around the corner by this time, so the weather is just right for outdoor activities. However, this month also coincides with the busiest season in the area, so expect most of Cobano, Costa Rica hotels to be full.
