It was a sad day in Clear Lake City when rock and roll legends Ritchie Valens, Buddy Holly and The Big Bopper’s aircraft crashed in 1959. These legends had been performing at Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa which brought sadness to the city when they all died. Don McLean eulogized the event by singing the American Pie Song.
