Bran: Exploring Haunted Castles and Medieval Torture Rooms
Bran, Romania is a municipality located in Brasov County. It is the known home of Dracula, in Bram Stoker’s novel, making it a popular tourist destination locally and internationally. Settlements in the region begin as early as 1377 during the period when stone castles were being built in the region. Most of the homes were built on a steep cliff and welcomed trade routes from areas in Wallachia and Transylvania. Bran became a part of Transylvania during the 16th century and was later on added to the Kingdom of Romania after World War I. Replicas of peasant homes and farmhouses surrounds the famous Bran Castle, also known as Dracula's castle.
