Benin Airport also identified by its IATA code BNI is a major domestic airport serving Benin City, the capital of Edo State in Nigeria. It is a government-owned air facility and operated by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria. Its close proximity to the city center means that the runway is in the middle of the city.

The Benin Airport was built in the 1950s making it one of the oldest airports in Nigeria. It had undergone several improvements in the past, the most recent of which was done in 2013. Its latest upgraded includes installation of state-of-the-art lighting and landing systems to enable night flights and flights during low visibility operations. It ultimately wants to be ranked as an airport that is at par with other modern airports in the world. During peak periods, BNI airport can process as much as 500 passengers conveniently. Only two airlines fly to and from BNI to Abuja and Lagos which are an hour and 55 minutes away respectively. There is one asphalt runway. The city of Benin City is effortlessly situated near the airport being just a short ride away.
