Best Time to Visit
Given the nickname “La Paloma” or “The Dove”, the BIO-Bilbao Airport’s sleek terminal design resembles a pair of wings stretched out with a flawless tip at the center. This was designed with the use of white concrete and glass, creating a very “open” setup that allows for a relaxing stay while waiting for your flight. Some of the best cities to visit from Bilbao include Getxo with its many historical sites like the Andra Mari Church or the Hanging Bridge o El Puente Colgante. Other major cities include Basauri and Irun. It was almost obsolete in 1990 until its renewal – seeing a brand new stream of passengers, especially after the Guggenheim Museum of Bilbao became a world-class tourist attraction.
