Bidiya: An Escape to Golden Sand Dunes of Eastern Oman
Bidiya or Bidiyyah is a small town located in the Wilayah Bidiyyah in the central Eastern district of Oman Sultanate. The town is composed of 15 villages, which include Al Gabbi, Al Muntarib, Shahik, Al Hawiyah, Al Rakah, Al Dhahir and Al Wasil. Bidiya is popular for its golden sand dunes that magnet many local and foreign tourists. It is also the site of many ancients’ forts such as Al Muntarib Fort that was recognized by the Ministry of Culture. Bidiya is also known for raising well-breed camels and horses as well as producing world-class dagger called Omani Kanjar.
Best Time to Visit
During winter or between the months of December to February is the best season to travel to Bidiya, Oman for an enjoyable pleasant weather perfect to experience its golden sand dune. March is also a great time to be in Bidiya to be part of the Sultan Camel Race Cup, which is considered to be one of the oldest Arabian festivals.

Tourists who want and authentic desert experience may head to the Wahiba Sands. The site offers camel rides 4WD sand dune ride and a peaceful place for overnight camping.
