Berga: The Gateway to the Pyrenees
Located on the foothills of the Queralt mountain range is Berga, Spain, the capital of the Berguedà County in the province of Barcelona, Catalonia. Berga is where the mountain connects to the plain. The town is known for its textile industry which started many centuries ago. It has a historic center with strong links to its medieval past as well as a vibrant modern town crisscrossing wide avenues and long boulevards.
Best Time to Visit
March through May sees the most number of tourist arrivals in Berga. For this reason, most Berga Spain hotels have full occupancy even though rates are much higher than usual. The centuries-old feast of La Patum de Berga which is celebrated during Corpus Christi (anytime between May and June) is a big event in town and this fills the streets and hotels with visitors as this has been declared Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
