Asiago: Birthplace of Asiago Cheese
Asiago, Italy is a town in Vicenza from which the famous Asiago cheese originated. It was the site of a major World War I (WWI) battle between Austrian and Italian forces. Today, it is a popular ski resort destination.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit Asiago is during the months of April through June and August through October. Tourists usually flock the town during the months of March, April, and June. People are least likely to visit in February. One of the highly anticipated events in the area is Kunka Beer Festival, which is held every September. It features a lot of delicious dishes made from goulash, shin, wurstel, among others. Visitors get to enjoy the finest local beers over good live music as well.

When in town, tourists should visit Asiago War Memorial. It is home to the remains of more than 50,000 Austro-Hungarian and Italian soldiers who died in battle. Near the crypt, there is a museum featuring relics obtained from the battlefield as well as documents and photos. Another famous attraction in the area is Acropark Lake Roana, which has intricately developed acrobatic paths between trees.
