Narimanovo Airport, also known as Astrakhan International Airport, is located in Astrakhan city in Russia. This is a public airport and is operated by Aeroport Astrakhan. Several airlines operate passenger flight services to different destinations in Russia and Europe.
Best Time to Visit
The history of ASF Airport goes all the way back to September 1, 1936. The airport was then a humble small wooden building that served as both the airport terminal and office building. Although small, it served an important role during the Great Patriotic War. It wasn’t until 1963 that a new and modern airport for the Astrakhan-Volga Region was commissioned and up to 1996 before international operation took place. In 2006, Astrakhan Airport was set for reconstruction and facilities were modernized. The airport’s efforts to becoming a better hub were rewarded in 2009 when it was awarded “The Best Airport of the Year in the CIS Countries”. Today, Astrakhan International Airport is able to accept almost all different types of airplanes and is served by a good number of airlines with destinations to Moscow-Sheremetyevo, Moscow-Domodedovo, seasonal charters to Antalya and many more.
