Arhavi: An Old Village with a Panoramic Beauty
Arhavi came from a Laz word, which translates to ‘Old Village’. It is a mountainous and hilly district located at Artvin province in the Black Sea region of Turkey. The town is rich in citrus cultivation and is one of Turkey’s largest producers of tea.
Best Time to Visit
The most ideal period to travel to Arhavi varies on how one wants to enjoy their stay but based on weather forecasts, the best months are from April to July. Also, tourists usually flock to the district during August due to its annual Culture and Arts festival where national and local musicians are invited to perform.
What to Do & Area Attractions
When visiting during festivals, it is expected that these will be held at the Ataturk Youth Park where all the entertaining local activities happen, as it is located at the center of the town. Tourists who are looking for a place to hike and at the same time a place to relax and unwind are invited to visit Turkey’s highest waterfall, the Mencuna Waterfalls. While going to this attraction, one will pass the historic Twin Bridge or the Cifte Bridge available for pedestrians only.
Arhavi has several hotel places to choose from. Paluri Hotel is located at Hopa and is a good getaway place conveniently located near sites and restaurants. Hopa Heyamo Hotel is a budget-friendly lodging to book that is 17 miles away from Batumi airport. Guests can also enjoy the 4-star accommodation that Sarp Hotel offers to their clients.
