Archidona: A Town of Archaeology and Olives
Archidona is found at the center of Andalusia in Southern Spain and a municipality of Malaga. Despite the rebellion it faced in the earliest centuries, its resumption became a pride to its inhabitants because of the scenery, rich historical heritage, and religion it bolsters.
Best Time to Visit
One can take an hour and a half bus-ride from Malaga to reach Archidona. Because of its several historical sites and religious celebrations, tourists opt to visit the place with a pleasant temperature especially on April, May and October. November is the wettest month of the town while July is the driest. Certain celebrations to look forward to are the Carnival and La Feria del Perro.
What to Do & Area Attractions
Archidona provides an entirely different break to its tourists. 18th century Plaza Ochavada is one of its most famous landmarks where the town hall and other restaurants are located. The Heritage of La Virgen de Gracia, which was built over an original site of an Arabic Mosque and symbolizes the overlapping tradition in Andalusia should not be missed. To know more about the town, one can also visit the town museum or Edificio de la Cilla and Casa del Posito.
Several local lodgings can be chosen by visitors. Well renowned is B&B Almohalla 51 that offers a good view to the sanctuaries at the hills of the town.
