Arba Mintch Airport is found in Arba Mintch Ethiopia. This airfield with airport code AMH is found in Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ Region or also known as (SNNPR). Arba Mintch means “Forty Springs”. It is actually considered the most resourceful town in the southern region of the county. This is also where the two biggest lakes in Ethiopia are found. Geographically, the airport is located around 5 km from the main city. It is also near Lake Abaya. The airport is around 1,187meters above sea level with only one asphalt runway.

The AMH-Arba Mintch Airport has seen the US 17th Air Force operating within its facility. The purpose of this according to US personnel is because they want to provide operational and technical support for the country’s security programs. The military has also spent millions in upgrading the airport to be able to handle the Reapers. The operation was shut down in 2016.
