Altamira, Brazil is a municipality in Northern Brazil along the shores of Xingu River, a tributary of the great Amazon River. Situated between the Brazilian Highlands and Amazonian Lowlands, it is mostly composed of different protected forests and national parks. Between the months of July and September a Summer Festival is held in the Arapuja Resort a famous destination in the area that promotes different sport and ecological activities to the tourists. Pedral Resort also offers the same activities, and boasts its delicious freshwater fish dishes, that visitors flock during weekends. These places are often reached by chartering boats. Xingu Praia Hotel provides a scenic view of the famous Xingu River while within the center of the city. Cathedral of Sagrado Coração de Jesus is only a kilometer away from this hotel, a church of more than a hundred years old and one the most important church structure in Altamira, Brazil.

Nascentes da Serra do Cachimbo Biological Reserve protects a diverse flora and fauna including those that are endemic to Altamira, a portion of these protected area will be made available to the public but will be regulated as to protect the animals and their natural habitat. Praca do Mirante is a fortress in the heart of the city, it is made primarily to protect Altamira from outsiders. Now it is a square, offering a panoramic view of the city and Xingu River, available to tourists and natives to enjoy.
