Acquasparta: Up, Up, On a Hill
The medieval hilltop village of Acquasparta, Italy is situated in-between two natural hot springs, Amerino and Furapane. It also overlooks the Naia River Valley as it sits atop of the Monti Marni Mountain Range. The town’s name was derived from “Aquas Partas” which meant between the waters – referring well to the springs. It has long been a famous thermal spa bath and historical destination.
Best Time to Visit
Acquasparta is best visited during the summer when it is warm and the sun is shining brightly. Visit the Renaissance-styled Palazzo Cesi which has a museum inside where historical artifacts of the town are displayed. There is also the Romanesque-Gothic-styled Church of San Francesco which has stood in town since the early 12th century or the 16th century Church of Santa Cecilia designed by Federico Cesi who resided in the palace.
