HotelOga, now known as HotelOnline is a travel technology company that provides e-commerce solutions and digital marketing services to small and medium-sized African hotels. The company uses cloud technology for rates and reservations management. The pricing is Artificial Intelligence-driven. There is also the distribution to online marketing channels like the Online Travel Agents (OTAs) and Global Distribution Systems, and metasearch engines. The company also has partnerships with popular booking sites and apps like Expedia, Booking.com, Hotelbeds, AirBnB, and Ctrip. The company is incorporated in Dubai with firms scattered in Lagos, Nairobi, Kampala, Dakar, Warsaw, Islamabad, and Oslo.
It all began when Savanna Sunrise Ltd. was founded in Dubai in 2014. EndreOpdal and HavarBauck, the founders, aimed to provide e-commerce and diital marketing solutions to hotels in East Africa. Since the three-merger talks in 2017 with Hospitality Tehnology Solutions Ltd and Polish Partner, Hotel Online, HotelOnline was born. The group raised $200,000 in an equity crowdfunding, making the organization the first African tech startup to succeed in this funding method. In 2019, HotelOnline announced that prominent startup investor ShravanShroff was taking part in their operations as part of the Board of Directors. He’s also investing in the company and was famous for his role as the first investor in traveltech unicorn OYO Rooms. He’s also the co-founder of Mumbai-based startup accelerator Venture Nursery.
