Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport – VNS Varanasi
Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport is situated in Babatur which is found in the Northwest side of Varanasi, India. Varanasi is considered one of the most important hubs in its own region. It has grown to be an industrial center famous for muslin and silk textile. VNS is its airport code and was formerly named as Varanasi Airport. In 2005, it was officially named after the second Prime Minister of India, Lal Bahadur Shastri. In the whole of India, it was part of the top list of busiest airports in terms of passenger movements. It is second in the region of Uttar Pradesh.
Best Time to Visit
In 2012, there is a small terminal that was created right beside the main airport. The capacity of the old airport can’t accommodate the increase in passengers. Also, the VNS-Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport has only one runway. Today, the new terminal can process a thousand passengers at a given time with 16 check-in counters available. Surrounding cities of Kakarmatha and Varanasi take advantage of this major airport field.

Ganja Fuji Home is an inexpensive hotel for less than 5 minutes from the airport. This 4-star hotel offers a free breakfast. 5-star Hotel Clarks is another alternative and located 15 minutes away. This luxury hotel is a bit pricey but worth the money. Hotel Plaza Inn is another casual hotel less than 10 minutes away.
