About Alila Hotels & Resorts Toya Bungkah
Alila Hotels and Resorts is a Singapore-based hotel management firm with operations in China, Oman, India, and Indonesia. Currently, the company which was founded by Mark Edleson in May 2001, has a total of 11 properties in its portfolio. Its first hotel, ‘Alila Jakarta’ was launched in the capital city of Indonesia. From being city hotels, it has grown into resorts and villas over the last decade. In Bali, it has two upmarket villa-style accommodations under AlilaVillas brand.
‘Alila’ is a Sanskrit word for ‘surprise’ which perfectly describes the property offerings of the hotel chain. All properties of Alila are members of the Global Hotel Alliance and Design Hotels which strictly adhere to quality requirements of modern design.
Alila Hotels and Resorts made headlines in 2012 when it launched AlilaPurnama, the hotel chain’s first luxury liveaboard ship which sails over the Indonesian waters of Komodo and Raja Ampat.
In 2014, the Singapore-based hotel chain partnered with San Francisco, California’s Commune Hotels & Resorts to establish an innovative lifestyle management firm that enables both access to each other’s revenue, marketing, sales and brands management systems. The alliance was forged after private equity firm Geolo Capital, the owner of Commune, bought stakes in Alila.
