Torres: Rock a Vacation
Recognized to have one of the best coast in Rio Grande do Sul is the city of Torres, Brazil. Due to its exceeding popularity as a summer destination, the population in the city becomes almost 10 times more than the actual number of its inhabitants. The town’s name was derived from the three distinct rock towers (towers which is torres in Portuguese) massively standing along its shoreline. Torres also boasts of its basalt rocky formations also found along the shore.
Best Time to Visit
Torres, Brazil has a prevalent humid subtropical climate. This means summers are hot and winters are somewhat cool. Moderate to heavy rainfalls are also expected throughout the year. It is best to visit between November to February when it is the warmest and there are less crowds on the beach. Torres hotels are also cheaper during these times. Although you might want to witness the spectacular hot air balloon, Festival Internacional de Balonismo, taking place every April.
What to Do & Area Attractions
Aforementioned before, the three rock towers in Torres are actually famous attractions in the city. The Furnas Hill is the largest of the three and next to it is the Cal Beach, which is a popular spot for surfing and cliff-diving. Aside from the coast, you can also check out Guarita State Park, which is a protected area of dunes and meadows, certainly perfect for walking or trekking.
