Tannersville: A City of Paints
It’s pretty obvious from the name, but Tannersville, NY was originally established around lumber mills and tanneries. Incorporated in 1895, the city became popular because of the town-wide “Paint Program”. It’s a project by the Hunter Foundation where the downtown buildings are painted in beautiful pastels, creating a strong stretch of colors. This attracted the tourists in the city and revived the economy. The city is currently being served by the Kinston Regional Airport.
