Space Needle is one of the main attractions in Seattle, Washington. The observation tower serves as a landmark and icon for the city. The iconic tower was built in 1962 at the top of Seattle Center in time for the World’s fair. During this time, it has drawn over millions of visitors. There are about 20,000 people who used the elevators daily during the show. For years, it was considered the largest structure on the west side of the Mississippi River. The tower reached about 605 feet. The observation deck of the Space Needle is located at 520 feet. There is a rotating restaurant at the top that overlooks the Seattle Skyline, Elliot Bay, Mount Baker, Mount Rainer, and Cascade Mountain. The surrounding islands can be viewed from the top.
Tourists often take buses from surrounding towns like South Lake Union and Lower Queen Anne. Aside from Space Needle, there are other attractions nearby like Olympic Sculpture Park. It is free and open to the public park that showcases a 9-acre sculpture museum and beach access. There is also Pacific Science Center that features Planetarium, Imax, and a lot more. Chihuly Garden and Glass is an exhibit that showcases the work of Dale Chihuly. There are quite several fine lodgings near the attractions.
