Shrirangapattana: Of All Things Sacred
Shrirangapattana, India is one of the most significant towns in the entire country when it comes to religious and historical aspects. It is situated in the state of Karnataka. Often times, its name is also spelled as Shrirangapattana. The town is also a river town considering the Kaveri River surrounding it. Its name was derived from the notable temple found on its area. Most of the travelers visiting are pilgrims.
Best Time to Visit
A distinct wet and dry season brought by the tropical monsoon climate is experienced over at Srirangapatna. Heavy rainfalls are expected during the summer season so with that, the ideal time to visit the town is during winter. These are the months between December and March. Do note that many pilgrimages are also held during these months. Srirangapatna hotels have higher rates because of there are plenty of visitors and there is a high demand.
What to Do & Area Attractions
The temple in which the town has earned its name is the Sriranganathaswamy. Dedicated to the Hindu deity Maha Vishnu, it is the most famous area of interest in town. With expansive and beautiful gardens, the palace called Daria Daulat Bagh is also one of the prime attractions in the area. A fortress on the west part of the town can also be found. It is called Srirangapatna Fort. Not many hotels and accommodations are found within the town itself. The nearest one is several minutes away in the next town called Mysore.
