The best time to visit Schwetzingen is during the months of May through October, for the perfect weather. The busiest months are usually May through July. Tourists are least likely to visit in December. One of the most famous events in the area is Schwetzingen Festival, which is held every May through early June. Established in 1952, it is a summer celebration of classical music and opera. Another event to look forward to in town is Whisky Spring, which is held every February. It is a trade fair featuring over 1,200 different bottlings. It is graced by famous importers, and independent bottlers and dealers from the region.

Schwetzingen Castle or Schloss Schwetzingen is one of the must-see attractions in town. It is well-known for its ornate and spacious gardens. The gardens house the country’s first mosque-style building. It is also home to the Schlosstheater Schwetzingen. When in the palace, tourists should also visit Schwetzinger Orangerie, which is part of the garden complex. Circular houses were originally intended for it, the Hofgesellschaft, and the Theatre Magazine. Eventually after World War II (WWII), the circular houses were used as event spaces.
