Riverside Nature Center, Kerrville, Texas, United States of America
Riverside Nature Center, located in Kerrville, Texas, was initially a small farm that was transformed into an arboretum, which now features native plant and wildlife sanctuaries. It boasts one of the most varied collections of native plants in the Texas Hill Country, with around 200 species of cacti, wildflowers, shrubs, and native grasses. More than 140 tree species are also planted within the property. In addition, a butterfly garden housing over 90 species of butterflies and a sensory garden with Braille signs are also found at the center. Furthermore, there’s a visitor center with displays, exhibits, and a gift shop, as well as a nature trail that leads to the nature center and down to the Guadalupe River.
Riverside Nature Center is a non-profit organization founded in 1989 and established in the core of Kerrville. Because of its location, the center is enclosed by several hotels. The Inn of the Hills is one of the best options in the city as it offers a 15,600-square-foot conference center, a bar, and a restaurant. Other excellent places to stay in are Lonestar Inn and La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Kerrville, which allow pets on the premises and provide convenient access to some of the city’s attractions. Only 3 miles from Lonestar Inn is The Museum of Western Art, which presents Western American heritage through art and artifacts. Meanwhile, outside of Kerrville, the Stonehenge II in Ingram and Joshua Springs Park and Preserve in Comfort are two of the other top attractions of Texas.
