Catalonia Hotels & Resorts is a chain of family hotels. The Vallet brothers founded the hotel chain in the beginning of the eighties. The company was originally limited to the real estate sector but they expanded over the few years into the hospitality industry—mixing properties and service businesses in one corporation. Now, Catalonia is one of the largest hotel chains in Spain. In Barcelona, the chain is ranked first among the leading hotels in the city. One of the fascinating things about Catalonia’s marketing strategy is their genuine love for historic buildings. Instead of commercializing them, they have been a prominent hotel chain in the rehabilitation business. One of the examples is the Catalonia Berna which is a building that was established in 1864 and is classified as a historic monument.
The Spanish hotel chain is also not limited to the country’s locations. The hotel also has operations in other European countries, Dominican Republic, and Mexico. Presently, the Catalonia Hotels & Resorts has 69 establishments in total. There are 57 hotels in Spain, 2 in Brussels, and one in Berlin. They also have 8 resorts in the Caribbean and one urban hotel in Santo Domingo. With this stretch of accommodations, the Spanish chain hotel has successfully marked by-the-beach areas and a few urban tourist spots, making it a go-to for many guests over the years.
