Nosy Be: Madagascar’s Famous Tourist Hotspot
Nosy Be, Madagascar is an island located in the northern section of the island country. The island’s name translates to “big island” in the Malagasy language, but it was previously known as Assada during the 17th century. The island is also fondly called “Nosy Manitra,” meaning “scented island.” Visitors to the island can come to Nosy Be via Fascene Airport, which is on the island itself and Ampampamena Airport, which is in Ambanja in the mainland.
Best Time to Visit
Nosy Be is part of the tropical islands in the Indian Ocean, so expect humid summers and wet winters. Summer is pretty much the best season to pack your bags and book a trip to the island, not only because of the cozy weather but also because of the annual celebration of Donia, a four to five-day music fest, which is typically held in May or June. This event racks up around 50,000 tourists to the area. This meant that most of Nosy Be, Madagascar hotels will be fully booked. On the other hand, October is the least visited month.
