Greater NatalInternational Airport – NAT
The Greater Natal International Airport, or Greater Natal International Airport for short, is a civil and military airport. It is located in São Gonçalo do Amarante, Natal, Brazil and serves Natal and its metropolitan area. The Greater Natal International Airport, whose airport code is NAT, was started as a replacement airport of Augusto Severo International Airport. It is the first airport in Brazil operated by a private company. It was only in May 31, 2014 when the airport was opened for operation.
Best Time to Visit
NAT-Greater Natal International Airport planning to build was started in 2007 as replacement airport when the capacity of Augusto Severo International Airport was not able to meet the demands of the passengers. Cargo as well as passenger transportation were the focus of the plan. It was expected that the airport will have the highest aircraft traffic in the Northeast. After the winner of the concession was awarded, the construction immediately began. In 2014, the operation of the new airport was officially opened and both domestic and international operations of airlines were transferred to the area. As of 2017, the airport accommodates 2,403,135 passengers and 18,553 aircraft operations. You can visit one of the best cities of Brazil which is Extremoz or visit Genipabu the nearest attraction from the airport.
What to Do & Area Attractions
There is no hotel near the airport but the excellent ones are 11-12 miles away. The posh Ibis Natal and the Holiday Inn Natal are around 12 miles away but both hotels offer shuttle to and from the airport. The Natal Palace Hotel is a bit closer with just 10 miles.
