Malacca International Airport – MKZ Batu Berendam
Malacca International Airport is situated in Batu Berendam, Malacca in Malaysia, which is why it was formerly known as Batu Berendam Airport. It serves flights to and from Malacca and northern Johor. It is owned by the Government of Malaysia and is run by Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad. The airport was built in 1952 inside a 0.57 square kilometer of land. The airport has a historical significance with its tower as the main guide for the plane where Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malysia’s first prime minister, rode from London.

Malacca International Airport had its renovation in 2006, which paved way for an upgraded runway and a larger terminal complex, which is already designed in international standards. The airport replaced its control tower with advance aeronautical devices with added security and safety measures. The new terminal which opened in 2009 can handle 1.5 million passengers yearly. Some of the other facilities include gift shops, conference and multi-purpose centers, cafes, duty-free outlets, taxi services, wheelchair services, staff assistance and Wi-Fi access. The busiest flights in the airport are routes in Penang, Kedah and Kelantan, Malaysia, and Pekanbaru, Indonesia.
