Mahboula: A City Born From Oil
In the mid-2000s, Mahboula, Kuwait was briefly inhabited, having a fee old buildings and unsafe streets. It is located 22 miles south of Kuwait City in the Ahmadi Governorate, which is known for its greenery and British architecture. Its name literally means "mad woman". In the year 2013, a boom in the residential development that affected the area was caused by the expansion of Kuwait Oil Company. By the year 2016, apartment buildings started to sprout up leading to an increase in the Mahboula population. The nearest airport is Kuwait International Airport (KWI), which is approximately 19 miles from the town.
Best Time to Visit
Mahboula is best visited during fair weather, either warm or cold, to really enjoy touring the area. Visiting from September to November is ideal, however, Mahboula, Kuwait accommodations would most likely be more costly. Between January and February are good times to visit as well.
What to Do & Area Attractions
There are several places within and near the Mahboula area. One place to visit is the Al Bairaq Mall, which houses a large range of children's shops and aims to be the first destination for children's fashion when in Kuwait. Another mall to visit is the Al Fanar Mall, which is one of the oldest malls in Kuwait City offering authentic Emirati cuisine and exceptional cinemas. Mahboula also offers five-star accommodations like the Safir Fintas Hotel Kuwait, which is fifteen minutes away from the airport. It offers fitness centers, restaurants, and fully stocked rooms with high-end facilities. Tourists can also check in at Boudl Al Fahahil, which has great services and amenities, and is five minutes away from the famous Fahahil Stadium.
