Lyon-Saint Exupery Airport is an international airport catering the greater area of Lyon, France. It was inaugurated by President Valery Giscard d’Estaing on April 12, 1975 and is considered the most important aviation facility for the whole Aubergne-Rhone Region. It was initially called Lyon Satolas Airport and was renamed as Lyon-Saint Exupery Airport in honour of Antonine de Saint-Exupery, the pioneer of Lyonnais aviation in the celebration of the 100 years of his birth. As of 2013, the airport has catered nearly eight million domestic and international passengers, and has an air freight of 44, 820 tonnes.
