The weather is particularly hot for the majority of the year in Kampot, although there are chances of rain showers every few months. In 1993, the area was established as a national park, spanning about 1,500 square kilometers over four provinces in Cambodia. The park is thriving in biodiversity and is home to various wild animals such as leopard cats, hornbills, and gibbons, to name a few. Go out on a hike to the mountainous parts of the area and be taken over a kilometer above sea level.
