About Rainbow Tourism Group Kalabo
The Rainbow Tourism Group (RTG) is a hotel chain based in Zimbabwe. Founded in 1992 with three hotels, the group rose to become the second largest chain in the country six years later. It was originally created as part of the commercialization programme of the Government and was formerly known as Zimbabwe Tourism Investments Group (ZTIG). It previously served as a parastatal in charge of promoting the country’s tourism industry.
The group was renamed to RTG in 1994 and became a public company by 1999. It was listed on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange after 70% of its shares were offered to members of the public, employees and institutional investors. It has since then positioned itself as a significant player in the country’s tourism sector, thanks to its strategic alliances and management contracts. It currently manages the following hotels: The Rainbow Towers Hotel & Conference Centre and the New Ambassador Hotel in Harare, the Kadoma Hotel & Conference Centre, and the Bulawayo Rainbow Hotel.
The group has also initiated a partnership platform called the RTG Virtual with selected Zimbabwe hotels. This one-stop-shop enables the group to process bookings on behalf of local partners in areas where it has few or no properties, including Masvingo, the Eastern Highlands, Hwange, Victoria Falls, Kariba, and Harare.
