St Mary’s Airport- ISC
St Mary’s Airport is an airport that located the Isles of Scilly. It is also referred to as the Isle of Scilly Airport. Working under the IATA code ISC, the public airport is owned by the Duchy of Cornwall and is operated by the Council of the Isles of Scilly. It is located about 1.2 miles from Hugh Town, Saint Mary’s, England. As the only airport on the island, it handles all air-traffic in the area. It sits at an elevation of 35 meters above mean sea level and has two runways. The first one is 525 meters long and the second one is 694 meters long. There is also one helipad, 400 meters long with a grass surface. In 2018, it handled 92,195 passengers.

The airport was first opened in 1939. Prior to that, plans would land in St. Mary’s Golf Course. The land that the airport now stands on used to be a High Cross Farm. The British European Airways overtook operation of the airport in 1949. It was later handed over to the local council. In 2014, upgrade plans for the airport were approved. The airport’s terminal is open year-round. There is a footpath that crosses within a few meters of the southern end of the runway. Warning lights close this a few minutes before landing or takeoff.
