Grand Blanc, MI served as the original home of the Chippewa Indians. The region was given its name after French traders reached the region in the 1800s. Grand Blanc translates to “Great White”. After the Native Americans in the region, people from nearby areas in America started to migrate and populate the area. Jacob Stevens, together with his family of eight arrived in the region in 1823. They were from New York. There was another Grand Blanc city in America during 1973, but was renamed to Gibbonsville after the first post office was established in the Grand Blanc region in the same year.
