Fisterra: Escaping in Northwestern Spain’s Coastal Paradise
Fiesterra, Spain, located on the rocky portion of Costa da Morte, is a city named as such, thanks to the countless shipwrecks happening along its shores. Its name comes from the Latin words “finis terrae,” which translates to “Land’s End.” From an ancient fishing village, the city transitioned to a popular tourist destination. Every August, the city celebrates the Fiesterra Pirate Festival, which basically re-enacts the battle of Harry Paye. The event covers a full weekend and is packed with various pirate festivities for the whole community.
