Erzincan: Beyond Traditions and History
Just like other cities in the Anatolian region, Erzincan, Turkey starts with the conquering of the Hittites. The importance of the city began after the Turks invade the area during the Seljuk period. There are a lot of historical edifices that have been damage. Geographically, the town is on the east of the popular Ankara. Erzincan has become popular due to its tradition of creating metalwork that is considered the finest in the region. In 1992, the town was struck by an earthquake and it is continuing to developed until today. The Erzincan Airport (ERC) is about 8 minutes away from the town proper.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit Erzincan is from June to September. Just like regions in Turkey, the town has a continental climate with hot summer and cold winters. The warmest months are considered the peak time for tourists. It is also when the Paragliding and Aerial Festival is held. Take note that Erzincan, Turkey hotels are busy during this time of the year.
