The airport is mainly used for general aviation and due to its proximity to the Laughlin Air Force Base, United States Air Force students frequently use the airport. American Eagle, the only passenger airline operating at the airport is serving flights to the Dallas-Fort Worth area. For 2011-2015, the National Plan of Integrated Airports System has classified Del Rio International Airport as a primary commercial air service airport.
