Davis, Oklahoma is one of the cities located in the Murray and Garvin counties. The city was named after Samuel H. Davis. He was one of the earlier entrepreneurs in the region who owned a dry goods store. It was established in November 1898 and by 1900 was the home of 57 businesses, three dentists, 10 doctors, three lawyers and two banks. The city also became one of the biggest cotton producers in Oklahoma. At present, farming is a least industry in the region. Most of the economy had grown in the social services, health and education sector.
