About Cabinn Hotels Copenhagen (and vicinity)
Cabinn Hotels is a Danish low-cost hotel chain scattered all over the biggest cities in Denmark - 4 in Copenhagen, 1 in Aarhus, 1 in Odense, 1 in Aalborg, and 1 in Esbjerg. Despite the humble distribution of the hotel brand, Cabinn Hotels remains a prominent name in the local Danish hotel market. It is owned by Niels Fennet who is an engineer and businessman. Cabinn Hotels is his best work as it is a low-cost hotel designed as if it were 5-star. He also owns another accommodations business, Store Kro in Fredensborg, which is a historic inn. Originally, he started his own engineering consultancy at the age of 24, and that company grew to have 45 workers.
In the late 1980s, that is when Fennet came up with the Cabin chain idea. He used his experience to use cost-efficient construction materials in this venture and sold his first company to the employees in 1989 to support this then new project. In 1990, his first hotel opened in Copenhagen. Since the low-cost hotel became a hit, Fennet managed to buy the historic inn Store Kro in 2013. Sitting next to the Fredensborg Palace, Fennet truly added a big asset to his portfolio.
