Buffalo is one of the largest cities located closest to the heart of Texas. The region was named after the buffalo, one of the abundant animals in the region during the arrival of the International Great Northern Railroad in 1872. The first post in the region, Buffalo Post Office came four years after the railroads did. The city's name was temporarily changed to "Blue Star, Texas" during the Super Bowl in 1993 and 1994 as a support for the Dallas Cowboys. In 1999, the region changed its name to "Green Star, Texas" this time around as a support to the Dallas Stars during the Stanley Cup finals.
