Hector Silva Airstrip – BCV Belmopan
Hector Silva Airstrip is an airstripserving the city of Belmopan, Belize. The airstrip is located in the Cayo District just off the George Price Highway. Also known as the Belmopan Airport, it is served by the Tropic Air airline with flights to Belize City, Caye Caulker, San Ignacio, and San Pedro. The Belize Defence Forces use the Belmopan Airport as a temporary landing facility. It’s also used by the British army.
Best Time to Visit
Hector Silva Airstrip (BCV) features a small terminal building as well as a single asphalt runway extending 3,642 feet in length. The runway is not marked. In 2002, the British army even led the expansion of the airstrip in order to accommodate much larger aircrafts on the runway, such as the Lockheed C-130 Hercules. San Ignacio and Blancaneau are few of the cities you can visit when you land at the airport.

While it isn’t an especially large city, there’s a good range of Belmopan hotels at great value. Just within 10 minutes from the airstrip are two excellent accommodations, 4-star Dream Valley Belize. A few more minutes of driving will take tourists to even more good value options, like El Rey Hotel and the stunning Banana Bank Lodge.
