Auburn, Lovely Village with Equally Lovely People
The town’s unofficial nickname, “The Loveliest Village on the Plains” is genuinely what Auburn, AL is all about. The nickname came from Oliver Goldsmith’s poem, The Deserted Village. Auburn is a part of Lee County and serves as the principal city of the Auburn-Opelika Metropolitan Area. Sheltering more than 63,000 residents, it is the largest city located in eastern Alabama and also the state’s fastest-growing metro area since 1990. Aside from residential areas, there are numerous businesses and hotels thriving in the area.
Best Time to Visit
The city is marked as a humid subtropical area with hot summers and mild winters. It generally hasa nice climate all throughout the year, but weather can be seen between mid-March and early June. It is usually busy when June comes as the Auburn, Alabama celebrates the National Get Outdoors Day and Auburn Taco Fest, on top of several other summer events held in the city. Auburn, AL hotels are least likely to be booked come November when tourist population is the lowest.
What to Do & Area Attractions
Auburn University offers scenery like no other. The campus boasts of its buildings with Greek Revival through Modern style designs and the Jordan-Hare Stadium where the university’s football games are held. Just around the corner from the university is the Donald E. Davis Arboretum where tourists can see 150 diverse tree species, along with lush wildflowers and shrubs.
