The picturesque municipality of Arucas is located in the northern part of the Gran Canaria Island, of the province of Las Palmas, in the Canary Islands of Spain. In 2013, the town had a population of around 36,852 in 1480. The city was rebuilt when undergoing destruction in 1478. Rum was the first produced product of the village before the cultivations of sugar plantations.
