American Wind Power Center in Lubbock, Texas displays over 100 historic and rare water pumping windmills. 60 other windmills are erected on the grounds. Founded by Ms. Billie Wolf and Coy F. Harris in 1993, it was dedicated in 2009. Other interesting finds here include the Alta Reeds miniature house collection and wind electric machines.
A variety of fun things to do in the area include visiting United Spirits Arena. It is a multipurpose arena that can seat up to 15,098 people. Inaugurated in 1999, it serves as the home of 3 teams, the Texas Tech Lady Raiders basketball team, Texas Tech Red Raiders basketball team, and Texas Tech Red Raiders women’s volleyball team. Tourists should also visit the OS Ranch Museum or OS Museum in Post. It houses a collection of paintings and sculptures of American West, Asia, and Texas. Mainly, it features the works of southwestern artists depicting the state in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Another interesting site to visit in the area is Mt. Blanco Fossil Museum in Crosbyton. Inaugurated in 1998, it features a variety of cast replicas and fossilized skeletons.
